THE ROBERT MADURA STRING SCHOLARSHIP

The Grand Rapids Federation of Musicians Scholarship Fund, Inc. will award a scholarship prize of $600 for to outstanding orchestral string student for the payment of tuition and/or room and board fees at an established summer music program. This scholarship will be awarded by audition.
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION
1. Applicant must be an orchestral string student (violin, viola, cello,
bass) age 15-21.
2. Applicant must reside within the jurisdiction of Local 56, which
includes the counties of Ottawa, Kent, Montcalm, Isabella, Midland, and Bay, and
all counties north of those within Lower Michigan, plus Lansing area counties of
Ionia, Eaton, Clinton & Ingham.
3. Applicants must have already applied to an established program of
their choice.
4. Applicants should be actively participating in their school's string
program.
5. Previous recipients of the Madura Scholarship 1st place award are not
eligible to re-apply.
AUDITION REGULATIONS
1. Candidates must furnish their own accompanists.
2. Candidates must perform a solo work or concerto movement which
represents their level of accomplishment.
3. Candidates must provide one copy of the music being performed for the
judges.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
1. The awards will be paid directly to the educational program upon proof
of acceptance.
2. The awards must be applied solely toward tuition and room and board,
not for transportation or other personal expenses.
3. A runner up will be named, if possible. The runner up will receive an
award only in the event a winner of the audition
cannot make use of their scholarship.
